Jag \u00e4r inte mycket f\u00f6r jubileer. Om jag hade varit det hade jag redan veckan f\u00f6re midsommar uppm\u00e4rksammat att det var 30 \u00e5r sedan jag uppt\u00e4ckte punken. Det var en l\u00f6rdag eftermiddag, en eller tv\u00e5 veckor f\u00f6re midsommar, jag l\u00e5g och sl\u00f6lyssnade p\u00e5 Discorama n\u00e4r Kaj Kindvall sade n\u00e5got i stil med ”H\u00e4r kommer Let’s Dance med The Ramones<\/a> som representerar en ny, h\u00e5rd och snabb musikstil som man i New York kallar f\u00f6r punk<\/em>.”<\/p>\n

De f\u00f6ljande tre minuterna f\u00f6r\u00e4ndrade mitt liv. \u00c4ven om det \u00e4r en klyscha s\u00e5 tr\u00e4ffade l\u00e5ten mig som ett slag i maggropen. Det jag f\u00f6ll f\u00f6r var inte det musikaliska raffinemanget utan energin och attityden som stod i skarp kontrast till den kraftl\u00f6sa och introverta symfoniska rocken som dominerade musikscenen (vid sidan om den bpm-fixerade discon). Jag vill g\u00e4rna tro att jag fortfarande har med mig en del av punkens attityd – misstro mot auktoriteter och fr\u00e4lsningsl\u00e4ror samt ett visst m\u00e5tt av egensinnighet och uppk\u00e4ftighet.<\/p>\n

Sedan rullade det p\u00e5 i ett par \u00e5r. Den brittiska punken invaderade min skivsamling med bland andra The Sex Pistols<\/a>, Graham Parker<\/a> med kompbandet The Rumours, The Rockpile med Nick Lowe och Dave Edmunds<\/a>, Ian Dury<\/a> and The Blockheads<\/a>, punkromantikern Wreckless Eric<\/a> och Elvis Costello<\/a>. Punk \u00e4r inte n\u00e5got s\u00e4rskilt v\u00e4ldefinierat begrepp, de f\u00f6reg\u00e5ende \u00e4r, med undantag f\u00f6r Sex Pistols, h\u00e4mtade fr\u00e5n tv\u00e5 av mina \u00e4ldsta punkalbum ”A Bunch of Stiffs<\/em>” och ”Stiffs Live<\/em>”, men flera av dem kan lika v\u00e4l kategoriseras som pubrockare.<\/p>\n

Kvinnor hade f\u00f6r \u00f6vrigt en framtr\u00e4dande roll i m\u00e5nga punkband, till exempel Poly Styrene<\/a> i X-ray Specs<\/a>, Fay Fife i skotska The Rezillos<\/a> och Siouxsie Sioux<\/a> i Siouxsie and The Banshees<\/a>.<\/p>\n

\u00d6verg\u00e5ngen fr\u00e5n punk till New Wave \u00e4r flytande. The Jam<\/a> var inget renodlat punkband \u00e4ven om de fortfarande p\u00e5 tredje albumet ”All Mod Cons<\/em>” hade med en (i mitt tycke) renodlad punkl\u00e5t som ” ’A’ Bomb in Wardour Street<\/em>”. XTC<\/a> var redan i det sj\u00e4lvben\u00e4mnda debutalbumet fr\u00e5n 1978 ett new wave-band. 1978-79 n\u00e4r punken b\u00f6rjade f\u00e5 ordentligt f\u00e4ste i Sverige hade jag och mina kamrater definitivt l\u00e4mnat punken f\u00f6r new wave och band som A Certain Ratio<\/a>, Gang of Four<\/a> och The B 52’s<\/a>.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
